Review: Highly Illogical Behavior

Highly Illogical Behavior Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Solomon hasn’t left his house since an embarrassing panic attack incident in 8th grade. Lisa never forgot that day, and when she has to write a college scholarship essay on mental illness, she decides to make Solomon the topic. She inserts herself into Solomon's lonely life and begins to build a genuine friendship with him, even as he develops a crush on her boyfriend, Clark. Things start to spin out of control as Lisa begins to feel guilty about the questionable ethics of "using" Solomon for her scholarship purposes. Is it okay for her to turn this friendship into a scholarship essay? Is that the only reason she befriended him after all these years? And, isn't Solomon's mental health more important than any of this? Tough questions abound as the book nears the end, but somehow this read manages to be serious and very funny at the same time.
