All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Theodore Finch and Violet Markey meet on top of the school’s bell tower, both considering suicide. Violet was a popular cheerleader before her sister was killed in a car accident. Finch is considered an odd freak. They are both dealing with severe emotional issues from their pasts. As they become partners for a class local history assignment, which involves road trips to visit real historical sites throughout Indiana, they begin to fall in love. Can they help each other heal? Can love cure mental illness? Can their relationship last? This is an excellent book, extremely well-written, and belongs in the conversation, along with John Green’s A Fault in Our Stars, for the best YA book of the last several years.

I fell in love with this book and with Theodore Finch.  This book inspires me to want to seize every day, to live it to its fullest, and to try to find the joy and beauty in small things.
