Paper Covers Rock by Jenny Hubbard

This book reminds me of A Separate Peace, but the characters and plot elements are more contemporary. It is full of literary references, and the author, who is a former English teacher, writes with an easy, believable style. Four boys from a prestigious boarding school jump from a rock into a river. One of the boys dies. Alcohol was involved, but since that means immediate expulsion, one of the boys agrees to take the fall, while the other two claim they were not drinking.
